You don't really want to start the programming earlier than ten. As a whole, the gargoyles fandom aren't morning people. And anyone who is will surely find a way to keep themselves occupied. HOWEVER- if you need to start earlier on one day, this should be it. Events on Sunday should NOT start earlier than those on Saturday; they can start at the same time, but common sense tells us that attendees are going to be MORE tired the last day of the con, especially if they stayed up all night dancing after the masquerade. If you need to wedge in more panels and there's not enough of them- or enough money in the budget- to warrent getting an extra room for the day, this is the day to do it. I've gone ahead an included an extra room for this day, but once again I strongly suggest you decide if one is NEEDED for the number of events you intend to hold, rather than pay the cost for an extra room for today and then struggle to fill it. You don't need a separate dinner break today, since you have Banquet. Either people will be at banquet, eating, or they will be somewhere else, eating. Voting on the art show needs to end early enough for the art show head to tally the votes- easily done if you are using Dreamie's computer system- and then to write up a list of winners and fill out the awards ribbons. Also, for staff to chose any pieces that warrant a "random" award- best inking, funniest piece, scarred-for-life award, etc. We've had repeated requests over the years for longer than an hour for masquerade prep time; but the masquerad eitself shouldn't be pushed back much farther than nine as a starting point since there are always some children present. Any actually in the Masquerade should go first, so at the least they can sit down for the remainder of the time. |
